Art Frame Restoration and Repair
This week's update was a shop project we were calling Restoration CSI . Mainly because it looked like a crime scene. This one was just a tad bit challenging. The assignment involved restoring a gilded frame that had fallen off the wall.
Below This was the corner that sustained the most damage. The entire frame was badly damaged, and there were no carved sections that had not sustained some degree of damage.
Below: The pieces recovered at the scene. As it turned out, about 1/4 of the pieces were missing completely, and had to be carved.
Below: The frame after the completed restoration. All of the pieces above were carefully re-glued back in place. The missing parts were then carved in place and all the damaged areas were gilded to match the original look of the frame.
Below: The Completed Frame.
